Site changes

A few changes around the site:

  • I took out the Community Builder modules, it was more than the site needed.  I can easily impliment it again if needed in the future.
  • The gallery has been updated.  Now the smaller thumbnail pictures also serve as links to their larger counterparts.  For whatever reason, the larger verions will not open properly in Internet Explorer.  I've asked around and will hopefully find a fix for it.  In the meantime though, they work fine in Firefox (and if you aren't using, suggest you check it out!).  Update: I'm working with the developer to find a solution, things aren't working well in Firefox either.  As I find out more, I'll keep you posted.  Update 2: After some fiddling and lots of work with the developer, the phot galleries should now be working in both IE and Firefox!
  • The comments decided to stop working (except the 'clear' button, that works fine), I'm looking into it!  Edit:  The comments are working again!  If you have any questions, let me know, I'll be adding some documentation about the comments soon!
  • I'm also asking around to find some sort of way to create a book database, that way we can all review various books and rate other's books which we've read.

Do I have to register?

No, you don't have to.  If you do choose to register, you will have access to more functionality of this site, including the ability to easily send me links to add and uploading pictures.  In addition, I may be exploring the idea of sending out newsletter type things in the future, but we'll see how things go, no promises yet.

Either way though, under no circumstances will any of your information be given away or sold.

In the spirit of full disclosure, statistics are collected automatically by the site regarding number of page hits, browser and operating system used and links clicked.

Comments implimented

It's me again!  I was able to find an extension to enable comments on the site.  Comments aren't available in every section.  For right now, you can comment in the Blog and Announcement (such as this) sections.  You do not need to be registered to comment, but if you are logged-in, your name will be transfered over to the comment.  As always, please let me know your experience with the site so I know how to improve it.

User registration with Community Builder

Right now, the user registration is being handled by a collection of small programs called Community Builder.  I'm still trying to tweak it and see what all it can do, so you might see some changes in the near future.  I'm not fully convinced it's a good fit for the site, although it does allow users to upload pictures, and I think that is a nice feature, so I'll be looking at my options again in the future.  I'd appreciate any feedback you have about the registration process and user features.

Site launches!

Today, the site launches!  While there is still more to add, the site is functioning, so take a look around.  I'll be working this week to finish updating my portfolio and hopefully adding some new photo galleries.  I'm looking into adding comments to the site, so look for that in the near future.  As always, if you need anything, feel free to contact me!
